Australian Defense Minister Payne said in a statement that since the end of the year, the "India ocean - Pacific endeavour 2018" joint maritime operation has been in the plan. At that time, the Royal Australian Navy ships will be training and activities in Pacific island countries such as Fiji, Vanuatu, Tonga, Samoa and Solomon islands.

ABC reported that Payne revealed that the ship participating in the "India Ocean Pacific advance 2018" joint military exercise will also participate in the "Pacific Rim joint military exercise". The Australian Department of defense has confirmed that dozens of US Marines deployed by Darwin will join the Australian ship "Adelaide" before the exercise.
